Funk brasileiro, also known as baile funk or funk carioca, is a Brazilian hip-hop influenced genre that originated in Rio de Janeiro's favelas. Despite its name, it bears little resemblance to American funk, instead drawing from Miami bass, freestyle, and Afrobeat influences.
