Boogaloo was a Latin fusion genre popular in the 1960s United States, combining African American R&B and soul with Cuban mambo and Puerto Rican son montuno. Created primarily by stateside Cubans and Puerto Ricans in New York City, it featured bilingual lyrics and danceable rhythms.
