Bomba del Chota is an Afro-Ecuadorian music and dance form from the Chota Valley, combining African rhythms brought by enslaved peoples with Spanish, mestizo, and indigenous influences. Dancers perform in pairs to drum rhythms, using improvisation to build relationships between dancers and the lead drummer.
